As ominous as the Solar Human Hybrid Project might sound, it's just a solar and human powered quadracycle, a cool project for the 8th grade class in California's Novato Charter School on display at Make Magazine's "Maker Faire."

The novel hippy-cycle goes by a shorter name, the SOHH Project, and combines a bit of muscle with a little electrical power for a neat end result. It's certainly not a gee-whiz parallel or inline hybrid from one of the big three, but it is garage-built transportation from some kids with a little motivation. It goes about 18 MPH at the top end using a Scott, 1 HP electric motor and a pair of sodium silicate batteries mated to a rear deck mounted solar cell.
